A residence can fall under both categories: private senior residences for independent older adults and private senior residences for semi-independent elders.
The operator of such a residence must comply, for each category, with all applicable criteria and standards required by law.
For example, offering an emergency call system is mandatory in ‘independent’ category residences with ten units or more (rooms or apartments), and in ‘semi-independent’ category residences with six or more residents.
