The Sandwich Generation; what does it refer to?
The proportion of adults between 45 and 64 years old represents nearly 45% of today’s population. Trapped between their children and their parents, this generation saw their family responsibilities grow in part because of longer life expectancy. We call it the Sandwich generation.
According to Statistics Canada, 20 % of the Sandwich generation had to modify their work schedule, 10% noted a reduction in their income to help an elderly loved one, and most will take, in average, 6 days off and will spend 10 working days focusing on a solution to their personal situation (presenteeism).
As you may notice, taking care of an elderly parent is not only made of evenings and weekends.
The searching for an adequate senior residence, whether they are hospitalized or in need of growing assistance, creates intense stress during work hours, especially when you don’t know where to begin.
There is however a way to reduce all that stresses into a single call and cut this process short.
