Our Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know to make informed decisions, all in one place.

What is the role of A Senior Living Advisor?

The role of a Senior Living Advisor is to understand the needs of elderly individuals and make recommendations for residences that match these needs in order to guide them to appropriate resources, whether it’s finding a private seniors’ residence (RPA).

All of this is done with a smile, as our expertise lies in maintaining good relationships with elderly people, their families, various healthcare professionals working alongside seniors, private seniors’ residences (RPA), and organizations that support the daily lives of elderly individuals.

Why seek the assistance of a Senior Living Advisor?

Choosing a new place to live is a crucial step that requires careful consideration to make the best decision. Just like with insurance or personal finances, consulting an expert in the field allows you to receive an objective and comprehensive opinion on the options available.

Why Our Services are Free?

Visavie will receive referral fees from any retirement homes within the network of private retirement homes in Quebec or Ontario, if the eldery person moves into a retirement community within either of these networks.

What is the process for a consultation with a Senior Living Advisor?

We meticulously explore your needs, translating them into concrete actions. During the selection process, you’ll have a meeting with a Senior Living Advisor in person where we discuss your aspirations to guide you towards suitable private Retirement Homes. During visits, entrust us with the organization, as we’ll be constantly by your side. Throughout the moving process, our presence provides continuous support beyond the usual assistance.

How much time should I plan to find a retirement home?

Most people spend around 137 hours searching for a private retirement home. They must first evaluate the market, gather information about the characteristics of residences that catch their attention, visit them, and complete administrative procedures before finalizing their choice.

Our process takes approximately 10 to 15 hours. Visavie offers you a simple and efficient journey by handling all necessary steps for you.

How can I be sure of the quality of the recommended retirement home?

The selection of a retirement home is meticulously conducted, taking into account the specific needs and criteria of each senior:

  • Budget;
  • Desired area;
  • The physical and cognitive needs of the individual;
  • The passions that drive the individual.

The Senior Living Advisors at Visavie are fully committed to their mission, moving dynamically within the various retirement home in your region for visits and providing attentive follow-up with our clients after their relocation.

What types of accommodations do you recommend?

We recommend all types of retirement homes based on the senior’ needs. The retirement home must have a certificate of compliance issued by the government of Quebec or a license delivered by the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority in Ontario.

What is a RPA?

An RPA (Residence Privée pour Aînés) is described as a collective housing building intended for individuals aged 65 and older who are autonomous or semi-autonomous. Private Retirement Homes are required to be certified. The CIUSSS is responsible for the certification process of all private retirement homes located in its territory. Within the certification process, a verification is conducted by Accreditation Canada, and follow-up on recommendations is ensured by the CIUSSS. When a retirement home meets the requirements of the regulations, the CIUSSS issues a renewable compliance certificate every four years.

Seniors living in an RPA pay monthly rent for an apartment or room and have access to various services tailored to their needs. RPAs offer a variety of complementary services, the level of which is adjusted according to individual needs and preferences of each senior.
