For me, my role is to know how to determine the needs of seniors in order to guide them to the residences that suit them best. It is also to support them and their families in this process, which can be very demanding and bring its share of stress and anxiety. I will be able to accompany and support them at an important turning point in their life.
As a medical assistant for an ophthalmic surgeon, I had the good fortune to work with an elderly clientele. Most of the patients were anxious about their sometimes very advanced vision problems as well as the treatments they were to undergo and I made a point of supporting them and reassuring them in this ordeal.
Patients often told me that I was very kind, patient and that I managed to reassure them in the face of their fears about the treatments or surgery they had to undergo. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see them as clients, but rather as people I will have the good fortune to be around for a while.
I have made a commitment to keep myself informed about the various resources that can help the elderly and to follow the various training courses that will make me a better counselor.

She knows how to develop a relationship of trust with the eldest and his family so that they have peace of mind. She is able to target and understand the needs in order to find the ideal living environment. She must also show empathy, respect, have a good sense of listening, be reassuring, kind and determined.
On the other hand, it must also establish relationships of trust with the health and residential network in order to have the best possible collaboration with them.
